Alina Fedorowicz joined the Secretariat as the Office Manager in June 2012.

She has over five years of experience with the federal government in communications, research, writing and administrative positions.

She holds a Master's Degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Bachelor's Degree from Carleton University.

Alan Galley has a PhD in Geology and more than 30 years of experience as a mineral deposit researcher and as a science manager. After a brief consulting career, Alan joined the Mineral Resources Division of the Geological Survey of Canada. During his tenure as a research scientist he published 26 peer-reviewed journal papers, 13 authoritative reviews, 33 government reports and maps, and 15 technical reports. He also led and co-led several national mineral deposit research initiatives. This was followed by 10 years as a science manager at the GSC, finishing his career there after 27 years as Minerals Director.

Alan became CMIC's Exploration Research Director in November 2011, where he works closely with 25 partner companies and lead university researchers to develop research projects in support of more effective research in deep, covered and remote terrains of Canada.

 

Saviz Mortazavi joined CMIC in April 2012. Dr. Mortazavi is on part-time loan to CMIC from Natural Resources Canada's Mining and Mineral Sciences Laboratories where he is a Senior Research Engineer.Saviz has over 17 years of experience in research and development in both the public and private sectors.

Saviz joined the public service at Environment Canada in 2002 and moved to Natural Resources Canada in 2004. His areas of research include water treatment and mine water management in mining as well as the oil sands operations, site remediation and biotechnology. Saviz's work experience includes working with industry organizations in Mining and oil and gas sectors as well as working with different R&D funding programs and initiatives in the federal government.

 Michel PlouffeMichel Plouffe has more than 25 years of experience in the study of natural and induced seismicity and rock dynamics. Plouffe joined Energy, Mines and Resources Canada in 1986 to work in mining seismicity in Ottawa, Elliot Lake and Val-d'Or, culminating as Group Leader in Mine Seismology.

In 2001, Michel Plouffe became Manager of the Ground Control Research Program at CANMET's Mining and Mineral Sciences Laboratories.

In 2005, Plouffe became senior research engineer in the fields of geodynamics and ground support. Since 2007, Michel Plouffe works as the CMIC Secretariat.
