Oil Sands Tailings

CMIC has approached the Conrad Tailings Consortium (IOL, Total, CNRL, Shell, Syncrude, and Suncor) to discuss opportunities to engage with this industry sector and contribute to the group's efforts in developing additional opportunities to work collaboratively on tailings issues.

Two dialogue sessions allowed the group to identify some challenges in the collaborative space regarding organizational structure, intellectual property, R&D valuations, technology use and technology transfer in which CMIC could be of help.

These issues have been identified by CMIC as challenges to all the collaborative initiatives underway. CMIC has formulated a plan to research alternatives and models for collaborative R&D and report back to the group.
